Vaping Laws Around the World in 2018

The laws and regulations covering vaping around the world are a constantly moving picture. Many countries have been very slow to react to the quick uptake of e-cigarettes. When they do finally take action the results can be severe, heavily limiting the use of e-cigarettes. If you plan on travelling this year and want to take your device with you it’s a good idea to check out local laws before you go. Some countries such as the USA, Australia and Russia have both national and state/regional laws. If you’re travelling around when you reach your destination check with the locals … Continue reading Vaping Laws Around the World in 2018

The FDA Declares Teen Juuling an ‘Epidemic’

Youth nicotine use is at a record low, but the FDA thinks Juuling is an epidemic. Vaping has become an “epidemic” among teens and must be stopped, the Food and Drug Administration announced Wednesday. In what it called the “largest coordinated enforcement effort in [its] history,” the FDA sent warning letters and levied fines against more than 1,300 retailers and five manufacturers it claimed violated existing law by selling and marketing e-cigarettes to minors. The FDA said it wants the popular e-cigarette brand JUUL and other companies to get better at preventing kids from vaping, and might even require e-cigarette … Continue reading The FDA Declares Teen Juuling an ‘Epidemic’

Edinburgh vaping firm will supply prisoners with e-cigarettes

AN Edinburgh company has won a contract to supply prisoners with e-cigarettes and e-liquid PODs – pre-filled tanks – as the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) prepares to ban smoking in jail. JAC Vapour is one of the only independent companies outside of China to design and create mainstream vaping devices for people who want to give up smoking. The SPS Smoke Free Prisons initiative goes live at the end of November and the company has been working closely with the SPS and its smoke free team to design products that meet the specific requirements of prisoners and the service. FDA declares youth vaping an epidemic, announces investigation, new enforcement

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb on Wednesday declared youth vaping an “epidemic,” and said the agency will halt sales of flavored electronic cigarettes if the major manufacturers can’t prove they are doing enough to keep them out of the hands of children and teens. The FDA says it’s giving manufacturers of Juul, Vuse, MarkTen XL, Blu and Logic 60 days to submit “robust” plans to prevent youth vaping. If the agency doesn’t think their plans go far enough, it could order their products off the market. Those five brands make up more than 97 percent of the U.S. market for e-cigarettes, FDA says. The FDA is “reconsidering our overall … Continue reading FDA declares youth vaping an epidemic, announces investigation, new enforcement

Vaping, not smoking, now the vice of choice for high school kids

A product meant to help adults quit smoking is increasingly finding its way into the hands of high school students, who may know little about the harm it can cause. When e-cigarettes first began to appear on the market more than 10 years ago, they had been marketed to smokers as a safer alternative, without the same chemicals and tar that come with burning tobacco. But more and more — with bright colours, and flavours like gummy bear, cotton candy and watermelon — it appears they’re appealing to high-school students who might not have even tried smoking. Vaping is now … Continue reading Vaping, not smoking, now the vice of choice for high school kids

FDA Cracks Down on Underage Use of E-Cigarettes

FDA’s largest enforcement action to date gave warnings and fines to 1,300 retailers and requested plans to prevent teen vaping from five manufacturers. Earlier today, the Food and Drug Administration announced the launch of its largest coordinated enforcement effort in history, sending warning letters and fines to more than 1,300 retailers to combat the “epidemic” of e-cigarettes sales to minors. “I use the word epidemic with great care,” FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said in a statement. “E-cigs have become an almost ubiquitous—and dangerous—trend among teens. The disturbing and accelerating trajectory of use we’re seeing in youth, and the resulting path to addiction, must … Continue reading FDA Cracks Down on Underage Use of E-Cigarettes

E-cigarette use is an ‘epidemic,’ FDA chief says

The use of e-cigarettes has become an epidemic among teens and needs to be stopped, Food and Drug Administration chief Dr. Scott Gottlieb said Wednesday. The FDA said it was cracking down hard on sales of vaping products to teenagers and might consider taking e-cigarettes off the market if makers don’t do more to stop exponential sales to teenagers. The FDA may also limit the sale of certain flavored products, Gottlieb said. “We see clear signs that youth use of electronic cigarettes has reached an epidemic proportion, and we must adjust certain aspects of our comprehensive strategy to stem this … Continue reading E-cigarette use is an ‘epidemic,’ FDA chief says
