Talk about a stiff warning. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent a letter to HelloCig Electronic Technology essentially telling the e-cigarette company to stop putting erectile dysfunction medication ingredients in 2 of its vaping liquids.
Here’s a Tweet from the FDA about this warning:
Yes, if one part of you seems really, really happy to try that e-cigarette, there may be a couple extra, unapproved reasons for such a reaction. As the above Tweet indicates, the FDA’s lab analyses found sildenafil in the E-Rimonabant HelloCig E-Liquid and sildenafil along with tadalafil in the E-Cialis HelloCig E-Liquid, even though the FDA never approved the use of such ingredients in these vaping liquids. Sildenafil happens to be the active ingredient in Viagra, an erectile dysfunction that people typically don’t smoke, although smoking may come after the fact. Meanwhile, tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis, another FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction.
And when you hear the name E-Cialis, what do you think about? Unless you have a friend named Cialis Smith or Cialis Pratt, you probably think of the medication Cialis. Just in case you didn’t get this connection, the company’s website paired an image of a Cialis bottle and tablets with the “E-Cialis HelloCig E-Liquid.” Additionally, the company had an advertisement for the product that, according to the FDA, showed a partially undressed couple embracing, along with a caption saying, “WOOOOW, Have you tried our E-Cialis? It is amazing LOL.”
