Smoking products contain harmful substances including acetone, tar, carbon dioxide, nicotine and some more. Smoking does not just affect the lungs, it affects the entire body. Smoking cigarettes or tobacco can lead to a class of ongoing complexities in the body, as well as long-term effects on your body system. And it is also important to know that some results show over time, while some express immediate body effects.
However, more and more smokers are choosing to use vaping or electronic cigarettes as a substitute for smoking. Vaping, also identified as vapour smoking, is used because it presents lesser harm alternative to tobacco. Others use vaping similarly as an alternative way to nicotine replacement therapy, to try to get off nicotine addiction altogether.
All e-cigarettes have similar work patterns: They contain a small cartridge (tank) which is filled with liquid (usually flavoured nicotine or not), as well as a heating element. The heating component is heated up using a battery cell. The effect of the heat results to the vaporization of the liquid so it can be breathed in or rather smoked, to ensure that you get the smoking sensations. “Smoking” an e-cigarette is also referred to as “vaping.”
Is vaping harmful to your health?
When the vape juice or liquid is heated, harmful substances may be smoked into the body system – although in much smaller amounts than in cigarettes or tobacco. Inhaling the vapour produced by the heating panel may irritate the nasal cavity or the pharynx.
A good amount of smokers find it hard to get by without any having a substantial amount of nicotine in their system. In that case, cigarettes may be the inferior of two evils: Contrasted to cigarettes or tobacco, vaping products are currently believed to be less harmful to your health and body system.
This is because the smoke that mounts when tobacco is burned contains a high quantity of carcinogenic (cancer-causing) materials such as hydrogen cyanide and formaldehyde. Vaping does not contain any tobacco or tobacco related products; hence, it releases a lot less harmful substances. Also, no carbon monoxide is inhaled when the heating panel in vaping is vaporized.
What does the e-cigarette contain?
The liquid composition of e-cigarettes (called e-liquids) is only allowed to contain certain limited substances. Vaping’s e-liquid basically contains propylene glycol, glycerin, various flavourings, distilled water, and usually a minute concentration of nicotine too. But, some e-liquids for vaping do not contain nicotine.
The two substances propylene glycol and glycerin have been approved for use in food products and cosmetics. Propylene glycol is also used in the production of conventional cigarettes to keep the tobacco from drying out. Even if these two substances have been approved for the purposes mentioned above, that doesn’t mean that inhaling them is harmless.
Vaping materials should be kept out of reach of children. Some liquids contain so much nicotine that dangerous amounts could enter the bloodstream if swallowed.
